COUI – Teens and Toddlers is delighted to be chosen as one of the charities for the Guardian’s Christmas Appeal 2010. There are nearly one million 16-24 year olds excluded from education or out of work and the problem is getting worse.
The Christmas Appeal will help us change the underlying issues which cause young people to drop out. These include low self esteem, failing at school and the belief that risky behaviour, such as drugs and teen pregnancy, is their only option to escape poverty. Our overall aim is to inspire disadvantaged young people to achieve their full potential.
“Life is like being on a football pitch, being expected to score and not knowing the rules. Teens and Toddlers teaches you the rules and now I am scoring goals all over the place,” Mariam, age 20, who turned her life around and is now studying at University.
