Over 40 young Londoners took part in our first Young Leaders Summer Programme this year.  Partnering with 15 other organisations, we were able to provide a total of 20 unique and positive activities, workshops and trips for young people.

The Young Leaders 2016 Summer Programme is the first official post-term programme to be hosted by Teens and Toddlers, and was devised as a method of continuing engagement with Young Leaders Group members and providing them with positive opportunities during their summer break.

During this programme we engaged 43 unique members (aged 14-24) across a period of 6 weeks, with activities ranging from a Come Dine with Me style competition promoting healthier eating, teamwork and finance management, to a filmmaking session with Into Film.

Over 50% of young people found the summer programme supportive and would recommend it to their peers. More than 60% said the programme boosted their confidence and skills. A further 41% gained a better understanding of their personal strengths.

Of the members engaged, 67% were between the ages of 14 and 16, meaning the majority of the young people were recent graduates from one of our programmes. We’re delighted that so many new young people chose to continue their development with us this summer.

This pilot summer programme has given us a strong baseline and insight for the development of future projects, and a strong measure of the benefits which can be attained by young people.

We’d like to thank 15 organisations who partnered with us for the summer programme. All of them empowered us to make this a positive, worthwhile experience for young people. We'd also like to thank BBC Children in Need for their ongoing support for our Young Leaders. A list of organisations and the services they provide can be found below.
